Bass Harbor Inn, a totally restored 1870 house convenient to the wonders of Acadia National Park, is located in the center of an unspoiled working village that shelters the region's largest lobster fishing fleet. Here, on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, is life as it has been lived in Maine for generations. Most of our rooms look out across the harbor to the island-studded bay. Others face toward the beautiful mountains of Mount Desert. Amenities Bass Harbor Inn offers a wide variety of accommodations ranging from a double with a half bath to a studio on the top floor (shown here) with balcony, beamed cathedral ceiling and breathtaking views. The town's restaurants, within easy walking distance, are open for lunch and dinner. Each morning the Inn serves a complementary continental deluxe breakfast. Both the town and the region teem with opportunities for visitors. Bass Harbor is also a yachting center featuring both island and nature cruises departing daily from a neighboring dock. Ferries for Swan's Island run frequently. Only a half hour drive from Bar Harbor and five minutes from the charming village of Southwest Harbor, the inn is located near many of Acadia National Park's most spectacular attractions - Echo Lake, Seawall, Ship's Harbor, Long Pond, Bass Harbor Light and miles and miles of magnificent hiking trails. And we are surrounded by spectacular Maine views. |
