It will be a big help to me if you would please tell folks you contact here in Maine that Stan Fleming sent you.
This list of attractions is compiled for your convenience.  They are located throughout the State and are listed because I like them - and they are quite popular.  I have not visited all of them in person but have it from good sources that they are well worth seeing.  If you find an attraction  you think I should add to this list please let me know.

Cole Land Transportation Museum    Bangor     207-990-3600
   mail@colemuseum.com

Our purpose at the Cole Land Transportation Museum is to collect, preserve, and display (before they disappear forever) a cross section of Maine's land transportation equipment from which this and future generations will gain knowledge of the past.
We also wish to remember, record and display U.S. military memorabilia to forever remind this and future generations of the high price our comrades have paid to protect our freedom
In doing so, we hope to inspire and challenge the young people of today to continue on in the footsteps of pioneers who have built our state and country.
With over 200 vehicles that chronicle the history of transportation in the country and specifically in Maine this is a great place for the entire family to relive a bit of Maine history. A must see.

   Frenchboro Historical Museum    Frenchboro
Our museum is in the town of Frenchboro, on Long Island which is located at the entrance to Blue Hill Bay.

   Maine State Museum   Augusta    207-287-6740

Shaped by the forces of geology, and smoothed by ice age glaciers, Maine's natural environment is beautiful and complex. As the point of contact between New England, Maritime Canada and the sea, Maine has been the scene of human occupation, struggle, and enterprise for some 11,000 years. This human history extends from the first Paleo Indian hunters following the woolly mammoths, to vacationers today seeking fun and adventure.

The Maine State Museum provides an excellent overview for first time visitors and a place for life-long residents to refresh their memories.

A self-guided museum with a multi-floor working water-powered mill. Very interesting and educational. I highly recommend it as I do all of the other attractions on this list - and I am not a big fan of museums - I love this one.

A great stop on your way to Downeast Maine. A variety of Maine wildlife is on exhibit at the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray Maine (Exit 63 - Maine Turnpike). This park is designed for the education and appreciation of visitors of all ages. The Maine Wildlife Park interpretation building offers interactive exhibits and displays to increase the public's awareness and knowledge of Maine's wildlife resources and the programs for which the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is responsible -- programs which, in many different ways, assist in conserving our precious wildlife resources.
