Welcome aboard! You and your family are invited to enter the 19th-century world of seagoing families from coastal Maine and especially Penobscot Bay.
Our museum complex is part of the original "townscape," and is designed to entertain and educate all ages to the tastes, talents and challenges of maritime life. Inside each building is a different presentation that highlights life at the waters edge.
Fowler-True-Ross House and Barn: Furnished in the Victorian period, this former sea captain's home displays the material world of 19th-century seafaring families enjoyed.
Personal treasures from around the world speak to the wide travels of these families.
Working the Bay: This exhibit explores 19th-century coastal industries and life.
Art of Thomas and James Buttersworth: This exhibit features the country's largest collection of marine paintings by Thomas and James Buttersworth.
Nickels-Colcord-Duncan Barn: This exhibit contains the Museum's regional watercraft collection on two floors, including commercial fisheries and small recreational boats.
Marine Model Makers In Maine: This exhibit, on display from May 29 to October 17, 1999, (shows change each year) features twelve of Maine's best known model makers and provides the public a chance to see models usually found only in private collections. A replica of a 19th-century model makers studio greets you as you enter this exhibit.

The museum is open Memorial Day weekend through the third Sunday in October, Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm and Sundays 12 to 5 pm.

Follow Route 1 East from Belfast for 5 miles to Searsport. The Museum is in the center of the village of Searsport. PMM is 25 miles from Camden, 29 miles from Bangor, 52 miles from Augusta, and 53 miles from Bar Harbor.
