I know this works in Windows and Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. I am not sure how it will work on any other operating system.
The file format for the video is MPEG and there is sound (turn your volumn up to be sure you can hear it). The files are rather large and will take a minute or more (some can take 20 minutes) to download so please be patient. The Windows Media Player will automatically be loaded to play these videos. You can adjust the size of the image and you can also configure the player to repeat the file continuously.
Please let me know if you like them. Thanks!
I will be adding more and am investigating using streaming video - wish me luck!

Channel Marker,(MPG,0.10MB)
This is the sound of the channel marker of the rocks at Bass Harbor Lighthouse on Mount Desert Island.
Lobster Boat,(MPG,0.26MB)
This is my first attempt at getting a lobster boat and as you will see it is not great but you will get then idea. I think you will enjoy seeing and hearing it. Don't get seasick!
December At Ship Harbor,(MPG,0.98MB)
One reason to visit Acadia and Mount Desert Island in the winter is that the ocean tends to be much wilder than in the summer. Here is a video taken at the Ship Harbor Nature Trail near the Seawall. The temperature is in the low 30s and the wind is also in the 30s (mph that is). This is a large file so it may take four or more minutes to download. Please be patient, I do believe you will be glad you waited for it.
Surf on the Rocks,(MPG,1.0MB)
Another large file with a good video of the surf crashing onto the rocks. Taken the same day as the above video. A closer view of the surf. I really like it. This file will also take several minutes to download so please be patient.
Surf on Sand Beach at Sunrise,(MPG,5.1MB)
This video is new for 2001 - it was shot in August on sand beach at about 7:30 am so very few people are on the beach. This is a huge file so you will need to be patient - it can take as long as 20 minutes to download depending on your connection to the internet. It is a one minute video and is very good quality - I really think you will enjoy it. Start the download and go get a cup of coffee and check the mail and then come back to see if it is ready.
Lobster Boat Working their Pots,(MPG,26MB)
This is a video of a lobster fisherman working his pots shortly after sunrise near Sand Beach. This is a little smaller video so should load a little faster than the Sand Beach Sunrise above.
Lobster Boat Along the Coast,(MPG,2.6MB)
The same lobster boat as above but moving down the coast along the rocky cliffs near Thunder Hole.
Lobster Boat at Otter Point,(MPG,2.6MB)
Lobster boat and waves Otter Point.
Surf at Otter Point,(MPG,2.1MB)
Surf crashing onto the rocks at Otter Point.
Come to the Windsor Fair,(MPG,1.6MB)
A short video of a horse pull. These horses are in the 3200 pounds and under weight class. They must pull the drag 12 feet to stay in the competition. The winning team pulled 7200 pounds. (This is a short clip so should download reasonably fast)
Lobster Boat Coming into Bass Harbor,(MPG,2.6MB)
A lobsterman returning to harbor after a day pulling their pots.
Loon Close Up,(MPG,1.3MB)
Here is a short clip of a loon that popped up out of the water within a few feet of our boat on Sheepscot Pond. I missed a lot of the action but this is worth seeing! You will hear the loon calling - really cool - and this is a small file so it should download rather quickly.
Here are some shots I hope you will enjoy. Some of the interesting flowers and birds you might see while in Maine. All photos have been taken by Stan or Mark Fleming for your enjoyment.
